For the second time in less than a week, the police registered a case of sale of seva tickets in the black market, here on Thursday.
In the first instance, the TTD Vigilance and Security personnel had busted a Sholapur-based racket, and, in the second instance, a Tirupati-based devotee shed light on the crime involving an outsourced employee.
CI Ramakrishna said the devotee, T. Subramanyam, purchased two ‘suprabhatam’ tickets from Srinivas, the outsourced employee, at a price of ₹5,000 each against the actual cost of ₹120.
It was only when he reached the Vaikuntham Queue Complex on Wednesday morning did he realise that the tickets had not been issued in the names provided by him.
Left with no other alternative, he approached the Vigilance and Security personnel and narrated his tale of woe.
After preliminary inquiry, the Vigilance personnel lodged a complaint with the local police, who, in turn, launched a manhunt to nab the accused.
The police suspect the accused to have resorted to huge bulk bookings. They, however, said his modus operandi would be known after his arrest.
