Andhra Bank has tied up with mobile payment app, Chillr, a move that will allow its customers to instantly transfer money to any contact on their phonebook.
In the pilot phase currently under way, the functionality is being tested with bank employees and a few select users. The official launch will happen by this month, a release from Andhra Bank on Friday said.
General manager M.N. Sudhakar said the bank had recently adopted the IMPS technology. “Both these facilities will help our customers make payment/fund transfer within fraction of seconds, and will aid us serve our customers better,” he said. Chillr is an offshoot of the Kochi-based technology firm, MobME, and the beta version was launched in February 2015. The receiver gets money in his bank account when the sender chooses the recipient from his Chillr contacts, enters the amount and the secret M-pin and presses Pay, the release said.
