“People should change their perception that the BJP is a party with some principles and convictions,” YSR Congress Party official spokesperson Ambati Rambabu told the media here on Sunday.
He was responding when a reporter pointed out that former Minister Kanna Lakshminarayana, who was all set to join the YSRCP, had been appointed State BJP president.
“People should understand that the BJP has no principles. That’s all I can say,” he said.
Ridiculing Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu’s statement that electing the TDP to power in the next elections was a “historical necessity” for the State, he said:
“The historical necessity is to defeat and bury the TDP once and for all.”
He ridiculed Mr. Naidu’s claim that his party had put back on the rails the State administration derailed by the erstwhile Congress.
He said the Chief Minister had not fulfilled even a single election promise completely.
On SCS, he had been inconsistent from the beginning, taking people for a ride.
He said Mr. Naidu was most unfair in luring 23 MLAs of the YSRCP into his party.
“Four of them have been given Ministerial posts. There can be no parallel to such deception,” he said.
Series of protests
Mr. Rambabu said Mr. Reddy’s yatra would complete the 2,000-km mark on Monday. To mark this, padayatra would be taken out in every constituency on Monday and Tuesday (May 14,15). Dharna would be staged in front of the Collector’s office in every district on May 16.
Mr. Rambabu said something about May 15 was unsettling Mr. Naidu. Only Mr. Naidu or someone from the TDP should be able to explain that, he added.
