In a surprise about-turn, YSR Congress president Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy said all options are open on post-poll alliances. “We should keep all our options open. Why should we be in a hurry to support somebody,” he told newsmen after casting his vote at Pulivendula on Wednesday. He said the YSRC has no pre-poll alliances or understanding with any party.
It may be recalled that Mr. Jagan Reddy had said that his party would decide on extending support to other parties, in the post-poll scenario, in the best interests of Andhra Pradesh. “The most important thing is the way the State has been bifurcated in an unjust and undemocratic manner. It’s cruel,” he said when asked about the key issue in the polls for the region.
He said interests of the State are supreme for him. “All my decisions will be based on protecting the interests of Seemandhra interests,” he said. He said the YSRC would not take any hasty decision on supporting the Central government but would exercise caution and weigh the pros and cons.
Meanwhile, Mr. Jagan’s sister and YSRC leader Sharmila said that her party is keeping all options open on forging a post-poll alliance with any party. “Options for post-poll alliance are open. We will support whoever gives our State a better deal,” Ms. Sharmila told the media here.
