Advocates skip duty over JC’s remarks

October 02, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:49 am IST - SRIKAKULAM:

Advocates of all the courts in Srikakulam on Thursday boycotted their duties to register their protest over the reported derogatory remarks of Joint Collector Vivek Yadav when an advocate Chapara Ramesh met him on official work a few days ago.

Mr. Ramesh alleged that Joint Collector made derogatory remarks when he raised some issues of public importance. Srikakulam Bar Association president Yenni Suryarao, senior advocate Jallu Tirupati Rao and others strongly condemned the reported remarks of Mr. Yadav and said: ‘Many officers were crossing their limits while talking to advocates. There is no respect for the advocates at the Collectorate. How can common man approach them when there is no respect for judiciary professionals,” said Mr. Tirupati Rao.

When contacted, the Joint Collector denied the allegations. “I have not made any derogatory remarks as it is alleged. It is only figment of imagination,” he claimed.
