Dharna on bonus
A dharna was staged under the aegis of the Naval Civilian Employees’ Union at Dockyard gate here on Monday to protest against the failure of the government to hike the ceiling on bonus from Rs.3,500 to Rs.7,000.
NCEU general secretary R. Venkata Rao said that the Ministry of Labour had written to the BMS general secretary on August 28 this year, ahead of the September 2 general strike, that there was a proposal to hike the ceiling on bonus to Rs.7,000.
But now, the Centre had announced bonus for 2014-15 at Rs.3,500.
