The condition of popular comedian M.S. Narayana, who was admitted to a corporate hospital here two days ago, continues to be critical. He was put on dialysis and is still on ventilator, hospital sources said.

Earlier in the afternoon, a news break was put out in the media saying he was no more. This made his daughter, Sasikiran, a film director herself, and son Vikram to appear before the television cameras and say that their father was recovering, although doctors said his condition was critical.

Starting as a writer three-and-a-half decades ago, Mr. Narayana soon became an actor and has thus far worked in over 750 films. A few months ago, he said he would write to the Guinness Book of World Records, seeking an entry for doing the maximum number of films in a given timeframe.
