Accidents claim 11 lives in Andhra Pradesh

While six were killed in East Godavari, four died in Anantapur district

Eleven persons were killed and 12 others were injured in three separate accidents reported in East Godavari, Anantapur and Kurnool districts of the State on Saturday.

Six women were killed and seven others were injured when the autorickshaw in which they were travelling collided with a truck near Golakotivaripalem hamlet of Modekurru village in Kothapeta mandal of East Godavari in early hours of Saturday. While five died on the spot, one succumbed to injuries at KIMS Hospital in Amalapuram.

According to the police, the auto with 13 passengers was proceeding towards Vadapalli Venkateswara Swami temple from Pillvanigaruvu in Allavaram mandal around 3 a.m when a truck collided with it killing Chikatla Nagamani (46), Pulime Ananthalakshmi, Pilla Bhavani (25), Pilla Parvati (48) and Perabathula Anantalakshmi (40) on the spot, while Pilla Durga (50) succumbed to injuries in KIMS hospital, Amalapuram.

Pilla Jagadeeswari (45) was shifted to Kakinada government hospital.

Four killed

Four people were killed and four others were injured when the vehicle they were travelling in rammed a tree after the driver lost control of the vehicle following a tyre burst, near Nallaboinapally village of Battalapalli mandal in Anantapur district.

While four persons died on the spot, the injured have been shifted to the Anantapur government general hospital, where doctors said that the condition of two is critical.

The dead have been identified as Shankar (45) of Budanampally village of Battalapalli mandal, Ramana Reddy (47) of Somarajukunta village of N.P. Kunta mandal and Babaji (35) of Vankarakunta village of Nallamada mandal. The identity of another deceased is yet to be ascertained.

Knocked down

Lakshmi, 20, was killed and her husband, Mahesh, was severely injured when a car collided with their motorcycle on the national highway at Kambalapadu circle in Dhone town in Kurnool district on Saturday.
