“It was a good and reassuring meeting,” said Parakala Prabhakar, Advisor, Communications, to AP government told The Hindu from Delhi. Mr. Naidu, according to sources, explained his concerns about the alleged ‘phone tapping’ issue on the plea that it was tantamount to violating personal liberty guaranteed under the Constitution and curtailed the freedom of an elected State government.
He also explained the disputes related to sharing of institutions under the Schedule IX and X and the ‘unilateral’ decision of the Telangana government in denying entry to Andhra officials. Mr. Naidu extended an invitation to the PM, Union Ministers to Godavari Pushkaralu and the foundation laying ceremony of new capital city, Amaravati, on the Vijaya Dasami day.
Governor of two States, E.S.L. Narasimhan was also in the Capital; he met the President and Home Minister and was believed to have briefed them about the alleged ‘phone tapping’ by Telangana government and cash-for-vote scandals.
Andhra Pradesh Chief Secretary I.Y.R. Krishna Rao and DGP J.V. Ramulu met the Cabinet Secretary and gave a report on the contentious issues between the two States apart from phone tapping issue.
