Tension in Gudivada after former MLA fires in air

VIJAYAWADA: Tension prevailed at Gudivada Club on Thursday afternoon after a former MLA and Telugu Desam Party leader opened fired with his revolver in the air.

The incident took place at the club when the former MLA allegedly had an argument with the club organisers and fired two rounds in the air and immediately left the place. Shocked at the firing, people in the club ran out in fear and informed the police. The police, who arrived at the spot, inquired with the organisers as well as other persons present and recorded their statements.

However, police the are yet to confirm the involvement of the TDP leader and other allegations. “We are yet to come to a conclusion on the episode. Only after completion of investigation tomorrow can we find out what exactly happened,” said One-town sub-inspector.

It is said that the TDP leader was in an inebriated condition at the time of incident. Meanwhile, it is learnt that police are trying to get hold of the TDP leader and question him.

The TDP leader holds a licensed revolver but the validity of it is not known.
