MLAs from Telangana region in Andhra Pradesh on Wednesday moved the Supreme Court seeking a direction for the Assembly Speaker that their resignations be deemed to be accepted.

The petition filed by former MP and sitting MLA M. Narayana Reddy was mentioned before a bench, headed by Chief Justice K.G. Balakrishnan, which said it would hear the matter on February 1 as listed by the registry.

The 139 MLAs, cutting across party lines, are named as petitioners in the matter. They had submitted their resignations to the Speaker on December 10 and 23 last year.
