KURNOOL: Pandemonium prevailed in the Kadapa Municipal Corporation general body meeting on Saturday, when the Telugu Desam Party and YSR Congress corporators jostled with one another and clashed amidst heated exchanges following a dispute over seating arrangement for some YSRC corporators who recently shifted their allegiance to the ruling party.
Trouble began with half a dozen YSRC corporators, who recently switched over to the ruling party, demanding that they be allotted seats along with TDP corporators. In the bedlam that prevailed in the meeting, the members allegedly broke some mikes and threw away the members’ name plates in front of the seats.
They stormed the podium and picked up an argument with Kadapa Mayor K. Suresh Babu, who belonged to the YSRC, and tried to pull down the mike before him. The corporators of the Opposition party came to the Mayor’s support and a wordy duel ensued between them and their ruling party counterparts.
Police personnel rushed to the meeting hall and pacified the clashing corporators and ensured that they resumed their seats. The TDP and YSRC corporators also clashed during the recent municipal standing council meeting.
