Soldier ‘kills' wife for dowry

An Army soldier allegedly killed his wife in Viswanathapuram village of Kotabommali mandal on Monday night as she refused to bring additional dowry from her parents. According to police, Jagan Mohan, the solider, offered his wife, Lakshmi, a glass of milk mixed with sleeping tablets.

Lakshmi, who was native of Jammu village in Narasannapeta mandal, married Mohan on April 2 this year. Mohan was reportedly given Rs.3.75 lakh as dowry apart from 12 tolas of gold and a two-wheeler. The accused who was working in Jammu and Kashmir came to Viswanathapuram four days ago. Mohan had a heated argument with his wife for more dowry, but she refused to ask more money from her parents.
