The Telugu Desam Party continues to face rumblings over the choice of candidates. Supporters and sympathisers of Kondangal MLA A. Revanth Reddy staged a protest near TDP president N. Chandrababu Naidu’s residence on Tuesday morning demanding that Mr. Revanth be fielded from the Malkajgiri Lok Sabha constituency.

Mr. Revanth Reddy who was keen on contesting from the Lok Sabha segment was learnt to have told his close confidants about his intentions to contest as an independent if the party denies him a ticket.

Mr. Revanth Reddy received support from senior party leaders, including Y. Satyanarayana Chowdary alias Sujana Chowdary and Payyavula Keshav who called on the TDP president. The senior leaders wanted Mr. Naidu to positively consider Mr. Revanth Reddy’s candidature from the seat.

The Kodangal MLA was geared up to file his nomination papers from the Malkajgiri constituency this morning. But he is learnt to have deferred his decision after Mr. Naidu spoke to him and counselled him about the inevitability of the alliance with the BJP and the need to adopt a give and take approach in the interests of the party.
