Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister K Rosaiah today held an interaction with State Governor E S L Narasimhan at the Raj Bhavan here.
The meeting assumed significance as the Governor met Prime Minister Manmohan Singh in New Delhi yesterday and reportedly presented a report on the State’s political situation and also financial position.
Mr. Narasimhan also met AICC president Sonia Gandhi, fuelling speculation that he discussed the political situation in the State. The Governor also had a one-on-one meeting with rebellious Kadapa MP Y S Jaganmohan Reddy prior to his meeting with Sonia.
Against this backdrop, Mr. Rosaiah and Mr. Narasimhan met for over half-an-hour in the Raj Bhavan, official sources said.
Though they termed the meeting as a “routine courtesy”, it is learnt that they discussed political affairs as well.
The Governor briefed the Chief Minister about his interaction with the Prime Minister, the sources added.
“The Governor and the Chief Minister discussed about the visit of the Prime Minister to temple town Tirupati on September 1,” an official of the Chief Minister’s Office said.
There was speculation that the Governor submitted a report to the Centre reportedly suggesting that Hyderabad be made a Union Territory in case a separate Telangana State was carved out. The Governor, however, denied having submitted any such report to the Centre.
