Tirumala: It was a memorable occasion for thousands of devotees who witnessed the enactment of the divine ‘Pranaya Kalahotsavam’ festival on Friday.

The festival is a typical enactment of love game between the Lord and His two divine consorts wherein the former endeavours in winning the dispirited hearts of the latter. Fun and frolic dominated the air as the Lord ventures exploring new avenues to appease His two consorts who deliberately spurn His advances.

The melodramatic passion theme was enacted at the north-east corner of the hill temple when the two processions arrive face-to-face sending scores of devotees who had assembled at the spot into peels of laughter.

The priests get divided themselves into two groups. While one group took the side of the Lord the other aided the goddess. The entire play is executed amidst recitation of pasurams in the ‘Ninda Stuthi’ style (showering praises with a tone of criticism) brings a uniqueness to the festival. Religious fervour find its way to the peak when the two goddesses throw floral balls at the Lord who in turn ducks to avoid from getting hit. The melodrama terminates with the Lord finally winning them over and proceeds towards to the temple.
