ONGOLE: Stating that ground work has been done for the all-round development of Prakasam district during 2016, Collector Sujata Sharma on Saturday asserted that the district would witness speedy industrialisation during 2017.

Highlighting the welfare and development initiatives taken up during 2016, she told reporters here on Saturday that much of the six-lane and four-lane expressways to be laid from Amaravati to Anantapur, Kurnool and Kadapa at a cost of Rs. 27,635 crore would pass through the district facilitating rapid industrialisation of the region.

''A clarity will emerge shortly on the already announced big ticket projects like the Donakonda Industrial city and the National Investment and Manufacturing Zone (NIMZ),” she said.

The district had attracted Rs. 1,000 crore investment in the micro, small & medium enterprises sector during 2016, she added.

CM for Janmabhoomi programme

She said Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu would take part in the 10-day Janmabhoomi Maa Vooru programme in Prakasam district on January 4.

The programme would focus on improving the happiness index of the people in the State by aligning the UN Sustainable Development Goals-2030 covering economic growth to social issues, including ending poverty and hunger, improving health and education, making cities more sustainable, combating climate change and protecting oceans and forests.

More awareness would be created on cashless transactions, she added.
