Chief Minister K. Rosaiah on Monday claimed that he had no differences of opinion with Kadapa MP and late Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy's son Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy and he wanted to reiterate that the latter was like his son, in fact younger than his biological son.
“I would like to make it clear that there is no problem with him today. Tomorrow also there would be no differences with him,” Mr. Rosaiah told journalists here after meeting Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Congress president Sonia Gandhi to discuss various issues including nominations for the forthcoming Rajya Sabha poll in Andhra Pradesh. Except the age gap between them – Mr. Rosaiah was 77 years old while Mr. Jagan was in his late thirties, there were absolutely no differences or misunderstanding among them.
Of course, some differences on the perceptions and views on a particular subject were bound to be there, the Chief Minister conceded.
Mr. Rosaiah, referring to the young age of Mr. Jagan, said at his age he could run for long distances and jump over big walls. Can this be expected from him (Mr. Rosaiah) also? “How can I compete with him (Mr. Jagan)?” he asked sarcastically.
Asked whether he would advise Mr. Jagan against going ahead with his proposed “Odarpu yatra” (to meet families of those who died due to the shock following Mr. YSR's death) in Warangal district in view of opposition from some quarters, he said he or the government had no role to play in the issue. His government's role was limited to providing security to his yatra and the decisions were taken at the lower level. The Chief Minister advised Mr. Jagan to plan his tour appropriately keeping in mind the reaction (from Warangal) and said the latter was free to take his own decision.
Earlier, he asked Dr. Singh, Ms. Gandhi and Home Minister P. Chidambaram for their assistance in the release of Rs. 6,000 crore to the A.P. government from the Centre under the National Calamity Contingency Fund (NCCF) to undertake relief and rehabilitation measures in the cycone-affected districts of the State.
