Naidu meets Chinese Vice-Premier

A Government-to-Business (G2B) Memorandum of Understanding with China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation (CCECC) was signed in the presence of Mr. Naidu.

Chinese Vice-Premier Wang Yang, said on Monday that India and China, sharing similar development goals, were capable to transform the world during his interaction with Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, who is leading a delegation to China on a six-day visit.

On the second day of the visit, Mr. Naidu and other delegation members met executives of Chinese companies and met Mayor of Beijing, Wang Anshun, apart from Mr. Wang Yang.

MoU signed

The Vice Premier's portfolio being tourism and external economic relations, he assured the Chief Minister that he will mandate the Commerce Ministry to explore the possibilities of expansion in Andhra Pradesh.

After a lunch hosted by HSBC, a Government-to-Business (G2B) Memorandum of Understanding with China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation (CCECC) was signed in the presence of Mr. Naidu. The business scope of the corporation extends from international contracting for railway construction to different areas of civil engineering like design and consultancy, real estate development, trading, industrial investment and hotel management.

 Mr. Wang Anshun welcomed Indian businessmen to set up their companies in China. Stressing on the closer cultural ties between the countries, the Mayor added how the art of Yoga was gaining popularity in Beijing.

Mr. Naidu mentioned that Andhra Pradesh was embarking towards achieving double-digit growth and sought cooperation in the area of hardware. Responding positively to the Chief Minister's invite to work together, the Mayor agreed upon working towards the development of Finance, Tourism, Industry and other sectors.

The Chief Minister also mentioned that Sinoma International is keen to set up an industrial city in India and said an MoU could be signed when Prime Minister Narendra Modi visits China in May.

Later in the evening, the government delegation visited the Huawei Research and Development Centre in Beijing. Huawei Technologies Co. Ltd is the largest telecommunications equipment maker in the world, having overtaken Ericsson in 2012.

Mr. Naidu asked the company to come up with a road-map illustrating their proposal to integrate ICT to Government of Andhra Pradesh programmes. The company also expressed interest in opening a development centre near the new capital.

Mr. Naidu also met executives of Chinese low-cost smartphone maker Xiaomi and electronics manufacturer Foxconn. Josh Fougler, vice-president of Foxconn, informed the AP delegation that the company was looking at huge investments in India in the next two-three years in smartphones, software, TVs and other electronics.

During Mr. Naidu’s interactions with other firms, Sinoma company offered to set up an industrial park in A.P. The Chief Minister invited Shenzhen Mary Photoelectric company to establish a manufacturing or assembling unit in AP. Siemens senior vice-president, M. Yakisan said the company was interested in infrastructure projects and mentioned about their expertise in railways, airports, inter-city high-speed transport and regional transport. Sumec group has evinced interest to invest in setting up a 5,000 MW solar project.
