Indiramma: inquiry unearths Rs. 2.27 cr. fraud in Adilabad dt.

Chief Minister K. Rosaiah has ordered serious action against officials and non-officials involved in irregularities in implementation of Indiramma housing scheme in Wankidi and Kerameri mandals in Adilabad district and recovery of loss to the exchequer of Rs. 2.27 crore.

This follows findings in an inquiry by the Vigilance & Enforcement department ordered by Mr. Rosaiah after MPs, MLAs and MLCs of Adilabad complained to him about these irregularities during a review of the development programmes in the district on February 25.

The inquiry found irregularities and misappropriation of Rs. 2.27 crore and recommended criminal prosecution of N. Mansingh Nayak, Assistant Engineer, Housing, P. Dayaram, outsourcing officer in-charge, Santosh, R. Arlu, Ranjith, all outsourcing inspectors, and M. Ramesh, Indira Kranthi Patham officer.

Disciplinary action was favoured against Aleem Bin Yahan, executive engineer, Housing, Utnoor division. The people's representatives against whom criminal prosecution was favoured were Mandal president Kerameri, sarpanch, Parandholi and members of Dhanalakshmi Gramikya Sangham.

The Adilabad district Collector has been asked to initiate action against the officials and non-officials and recover the misappropriated amount.

In the inquiry, it was found that in Parandholi gram panchayat, out of 462 houses verified, in 132 cases, Housing department officials paid Rs. 29,15,400 to the beneficiaries who have not started construction of houses. In 197 cases, excess amount of Rs. 27,61,820 was paid.

Similar instances were found in Karanjiwada, Sawathi, Kanneragaon gram panchayats. Village organisations did not follow government procedures and handed over crores of rupees to Housing department officials and elected representatives.
