Chief Minister K. Rosaiah sought to allay apprehensions among a section of people that industrial development, information technology sector in particular, has slowed in the State in the recent past.
The Chief Minister said the talk that industry had slowed down and the IT sector was progressing at “snail's pace” had no basis as the State registered impressive growth in the past few months. Over 50 new companies were registered in the State during January-October this year while requests for creation of 18 lakh sq.ft space were received by the departments concerned.
‘Scope for improving'
“The State is putting its best efforts to become number one in the IT sector permanently. There is of course scope for improving further,” he said. Mr. Rosaiah was addressing the participants of the e-Governance leadership meet organised for political leaders by the National Institute of Smart Governance.
He said steps were underway to implement all the suggestions made in the national e-governance plan. The State was awaiting release of funds from the Centre in this direction, but was prepared to incur the expenditure on its own.
The Chief Minister exhorted the elected representatives to focus on utilising the incubation centres created in the engineering colleges in their respective areas for taking technology to grass roots.
Assembly Speaker N. Kiran Kumar Reddy stressed the need for giving all information to elected representatives enabling them to function more effectively. He expressed concern that the State legislature was not included in the national e-governance plan and wanted the authorities concerned to ensure that the Legislative Assembly was provided link with library in the Parliament as well as other State legislatures for better exchange of procedures.
Council chairman A. Chakrapani favoured the recommendations made by various committees of the legislature to be kept online as it would serve as reminder to the administration.
