Hyderabad HC to supervise TN woodcutters’ killing probe

April 29, 2015 02:13 am | Updated November 16, 2021 05:07 pm IST - HYDERABAD:

Expressing dissatisfaction at the progress of investigation into the Seshachalam killings, the Hyderabad High Court said on Tuesday that it would guide the investigation by the special team.

A Division Bench, comprising Chief Justice Kalyanjyothi Sen Gupta and Justice P.V. Sanjay Kumar, said the special investigation team was of the court and would not take any advice or direction from anyone except the court. The investigation should be completed in 60 days. The court asked the government to change the Public Prosecutor.

The Bench passed these orders while dealing with cases filed by a civil liberties committee and the families of five victims from Tamil Nadu who were among the 20 woodcutters killed in police firing in the Seshachalam forests on April 7. The Bench perused the case diary and said that it was not satisfied with the progress.
