Fire broke out in the vicinity of the Pachikalava Gangamma temple on Tuesday at Tirumala.
Motorists moving along the bypass road, who were first to notice smoke billowing out from the temple vale, immediately alerted the TTD authorities who in turn alerted the fire, forest and vigilance personnel.
Two fire tenders were rushed to the spot. The collective efforts of all the personnel brought the fire under control, which otherwise could have proved fatal given the topographical location and the thick forests surrounding the area.
