Former Union Ministers Killi Krupa Rani and Panabaka Lakshmi, and others release a poster containing a photo of girls being taken on an earthmover to the National Women’s Parliament’s venue, in Guntur on Friday.

Flashing a newspaper photograph which had students being transported to the venue of the National Women’s Parliament (NWP) on the blade of an earthmover, women Congress leaders on Friday criticised the organisers and said that the image indicated the scant respect the TDP government had for girls.

Former Union Minister Killi Krupa Rani said that the picture indicated the insensitivity of the organisers in roping in large number of students as volunteers.

The students have not been provided basic amenities.

PCC women cell secretary Ganga Bhavani said that the atrocities against women had been rampant during the TDP government and the government had admitted that there had been a 11% increase in crime against women. Former Minister Panabaka Lakshmi and Congress in-charge for Karnataka G. Usha Rani were present.
