BSNL offers more 5G WiFi hotspots in Tirupati

Chittoor city all set to get New Generation Networ

Buoyed by the consumer patronage to its 5G Wi-Fi hotspots launched in nine locations across the Tirupati Telecom District, Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) has embarked on a quantum leap by extending it to forty more sites in one go.

The Nigam currently offers Wi-Fi hotspots in APSRTC complex, Renigunta airport, head post office, Bairagipatteda, Korlagunta and TTD admin. building (all in Tirupati), SITAMS College (Chittoor), e-seva building and Panagal (both Srikalahasti). Owing to the huge response, the company has readied proposals to expand the network to forty sites across the Telecom district.

Similarly, the Next Generation Network (NGN), a switching network that offers integrated broadband and landline facility, is all set to be launched for Chittoor area, with sites at Chittoor city, Kanipakam temple, Aragonda and Bangarupalyam. “The facility enables video calling, caller info display and billing info etc., even for video-enabled landline phones,” said M.S.A. Nuton, General Manager of Tirupati Telecom District.

Interestingly, Chittoor will be the third city in the circle to get it after Hyderabad and Vijayawada, as it already boasts of the highest number of broadband connections in the state.

Chittoor SSA is also the first in entire Andhra Pradesh in terms of Mobile Number Portability (MNP). The hill town of Tirumala is also part of the technology revolution as 2G and 3G combined cell sites were recently launched at Sri Padmavathi and Kaustubham guest houses, while two more at Mokallamitta and Akasaganga area in the pipeline.
