VIJAYAWADA: National Women’s Parliament (NWP) venue precincts were decked up with replicas of Amaravati stupas.
Huge elephants on either side of the main entrance, photographs of successful women put up on walls of the air- conditioned hangar were a few that enriched the ambience of the venue.
Selfie fixation
A mobile phone with a camera makes one go crazy. None can resist clicking a photograph or taking a selfie. The VIPs and delegates such as Puducheerry Lieutenant Governor Kiran Bedi were seen taking a few snaps from the dais. The personal assistants and security personnel too carried cameras and captured a few moments.
A photo session or a selfie with tech-savvy Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu will always be a memorable event in life.
The students and participants vied with each other to have a photograph with Mr. Naidu, and he readily obliged.
Left high and dry
The organisers made elaborate arrangements to conduct the event in a grand manner. But, there were a few lapses.
The make-shift toilets were grossly inadequate as was evidenced by long queues at the rest rooms.
The food court put up in front of the main conference hall was full of participants even while the inaugural session was on.
A sumptuous meal was provided at the food court, but for water, the participants had to ran here and there.
Keeping tradition alive
A traditional welcome was accorded to the participants. Each delegate or participant were given a rose flower and received by applying kumkum on their forehead.
AP Assembly Speaker Kodela Sivaprasada Rao surprised everyone by arriving at the venue in a traditional attire.
