Another dialysis centre at Palakonda: Kamineni

January 03, 2017 12:48 am | Updated 12:48 am IST - VIJAYAWADA:

In an apparent knee-jerk reaction to Pawan Kalyan’s reaching out to the patients of Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) at Ichchapuram in Srikakulam district on January 3, Health Minister Kamineni Srinivas said the government would inaugurate the third dialysis centre at Palakonda on January 5.

The Minister said two dialysis centres were functional at the Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences at Srikakulam and Tekkali area hospital. More such facilities would be set up depending on the requirement. A high-level meeting is being held at Palakonda on the same day (Jan 5) as per the instructions of Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu to take stock of the situation, the Minister added.

The disease was found to be prevalent in seven mandals and even a team of American doctors, who conducted a detailed study, could not pinpoint the cause, according to him.

Addressing media at Kaikalur on Monday, Mr. Srinivas said the food habits of the people inhabiting Uddhanam region, climate and water samples were being researched extensively and a conclusive report was expected to be submitted soon.
