Andhra Legislative Council appeals for peace during Board exams

Against the backdrop of the Telangana agitation, Andhra Pradesh Legislative Council on Friday appealed all parties and leaders to ensure that the Board examinations are not disturbed and are held in a peaceful atmosphere.

“The intermediate and 10th class exams are going to start from March 7. This House unanimously resolves that all parties and leaders help in the conduct of the exams as per schedule in view of the students future and the concern of the parents.

“The concerned officials and leaders of various parties should observe restraint and cooperate to conduct the examinations in a peaceful and uninterrupted manner. This is to ensure a golden future for the students. We appeal to the people of the state and especially the media to do their bit,” a resolution passed by the Council said.

The appeal by the Council came in the wake of Telangana groups organising agitations to press for separate statehood.

The Telangana Political Joint Action Committee (JAC) has called for ‘million march to Hyderabad’ on March 10 and parents and teachers have expressed concern that the students would be disturbed if a large number of people turn up in the city on the day.
