Andhra Pradesh Congress president D Srinivas today said disciplinary action would be taken against party leaders, however big they are, if they violated party discipline.
“No leader has the right to bring bad name to the party. Whether it is MLAs or MPs, we will send paper clippings of their comments and also recorded voice to the AICC. At the State level, we will act appropriately,” he told reporters here.
Mr. Srinivas’ comments came in the wake of vertical divide and war of words among party leaders over the Telangana issue.
Mr. Srinivas has been making efforts to see that discipline is maintained in the ruling party’s state unit.
After making several appeals to leaders not to air their views or problems publicly, he organised a luncheon meeting for the Congress MPs yesterday in which he and Chief Minister K Rosaiah asked the Parliamentarians to raise crucial issues at the party fora.
About the reported comments of Congress MLA Konda Surekha that Congress lay buried in the State and that Kadapa MP Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy should be made the party leader, he said the matter would be dealt in an appropriate way.
Expressing satisfaction over the way the MPs meeting went off yesterday, he thanked the party legislators and the Chief Minister for their cooperation.
