4,400 litres of jaggery wash destroyed

The Prohibition & Excise (P&E) Department sleuths destroyed 4,400 litres of jaggery wash and seized 90 litres of illicitly distilled (ID) arrack during simultaneous raids on illicit liquor dens across Prakasam district on Wednesday. One bootlegger, Bhanu (45) was nabbed in Chirala and the motorcycle used to transport ID liquor was seized, Ongole Excise Superintendent P.Srinivas said. The bootleggers fled into the forests adjoining Markapur, Giddalur

and Yerragondapalem, he added. In all 11 cases were booked against the bootleggers.
