Three startups being groomed by Startup Accelerator India (SAI) here at Sunrise Incubation Tower have been selected for further acceleration in Singapore.

Startups based in Singapore have also shown keen interest to extend their support to strengthen ecosystem and spread innovation culture in Visakhapatnam first and later in other parts of the State.

All this forms part of MoU by NTUitive Pte Ltd and SAI, which was signed in Singapore. NTUitive Pte Ltd, the innovation and enterprise of the Nanyang Technological University, inked the agreement with Singapore-headquartered Govin Academy and its India partner, Startup Accelerator India (SAI) sometime ago.

Headquartered in Singapore, Govin Academy is a leader in entrepreneurship education and innovation management for technology entrepreneurs and digital health professionals. Its key focus is to conduct bootcamps and startup acceleration programmes between Singapore and India. SAI is a joint venture between Govin and the State government.

The partnership will promote startup entrepreneurship opportunities between Singapore and India by providing a launch pad for Singaporean startups to leapfrog into the Indian market and vice versa.

A joint steering committee formed by the two firms is mandated to shortlist startups from SAI. In the first batch, they have identified three startups for acceleration programmes in Singapore.

The three startups identified for deputation to Singapore over next three to six months. The areas identified for encouraging startup entrepreneurs include digital health, Internet of Things, Artificial Intelligence and education tech.

First-hand insights

NTUitive startup entrepreneurs will gain first-hand insights into India’s market through workshops, hackathons and internships, which will be conducted and executed by industry leaders and experienced mentors from Govin and NTUitive.

Dr. Anand Govindaluri, founder and director of Govin Academy, told The Hindu that they were very excited at the agreement signed with NTUtive Pte Ltd. He said that they would be sending more startups from Vizag and Singapore and vice versa as part of mutual collaboration.

He said they were fortunate to have partnered with NTUitive to promote entrepreneurship and innovation management. “The partnership will strengthen the startup entrepreneurial corridor between Singapore and India to address key societal challenges,” he stated.

At an interactive meet between the two held in Singapore, Dr. Lim Jui, CEO, NTUitive Pte Ltd, said “I have visited Startup Accelerator’s programmes in India and believe that startups from NTUitive will benefit from this cooperation and gain opportunities to expand into the growing market of India.”
