3 dead, 9 hurt in auto-lorry collision in Vizianagaram Dist.

Three persons were killed and nine more injured when an overcrowded auto collided head on with a speeding truck bound for Raygada from Parvathipuram at a sharp curve near a residential school at Komarada, the mandal headquarters village, at 8.30 a.m. on Wednesday.

The victims, all are closely related, hailing from Karada village were on their way to Parvathipuram to attend a function.

While J. Sridevi (25) died on the spot, J. Kalavati (62) succumbed to injuries at Parvathipuram Area Hospital, and Varanasi Nagesh (30) died on way to K.G.H in Visakhapatnam, according to Komarada Sub-Inspector Santosh Kumar. The condition of Varanasi Janaki and Varanasi Krishna, who were among the injured, was stated to be critical. Police arrested the truck driver.
