2 killed as bus plunges into riverbed

Two persons, one of them a woman, were killed and 41 others were injured when an RTC bus (Ramabanam service) carrying passengers from Khammam to Bhadrachalam plunged off the approach road of the bridge across the Godavari in the temple-town on Thursday afternoon.

B Sravani, 35, of Kodad in Nalgonda district and bus driver Ch Venkateshwarlu, 45, of Bhadrachalam, died in the ghastly road accident, according to police sources.

Falling off five-decade-old bridge, the bus toppled on to the dry riverbed.

The bus driver reportedly lost control of the vehicle while negotiating the narrow approach road of the bridge
