The BJP-led NDA government at the Centre was trying to fish in troubled waters in Tamil Nadu by allegedly “misusing the high office of Governor,” CPI(M) leader B.V. Raghavulu alleged.
Mr. Raghavulu said it was not proper on the part of Tamil Nadu Governor Ch. Vidyasagar Rao to delay the government formation process when AIADMK interim general secretary Sasikala had staked claim, and accused the Centre of “scuttling” the democratic process with “ulterior political motive”.
“The Governor, whether he likes it or not, should follow the procedure laid out in the Constitution and invite the leader in whose favour the numbers are,” the CPI(M) leader said, adding that the intra-party feud in the AIADMK need not be taken note of now.
To a question, the CPI(M) leader said the Governor also need not wait for Supreme Court verdict in the disproportionate assets case.
