Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav on Sunday came out with a detailed clarification on the controversy surrounding his watching of the movie PK . In its latest tweet on the subject, the Chief Minister’s Office said “the screening of PK was done on a Club X media server installed at Mr. Akhilesh Yadav’s residence.”

Mr. Yadav created a controversy last week by stating that he had watched the film downloaded from the Internet. People then accused him of violating anti-piracy laws, while a social activist filed a police complaint.

On Saturday, the Chief Minister’s office issued a clarification. On Sunday, it clarified that “the screening was done with a licence that was issued specifically for this screening. Assumptions about downloading of a movie over the Internet and any unauthorised use are baseless.”

“The Club X service enables authorised private screening of movie at Club X licensed auditoriums of its members.”
