Nationalist Congress Party leader and Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar has called for an unbiased probe into the Congress' alleged supersession of the NCP-controlled Maharashtra State Cooperative Bank.
The Reserve Bank of India had dissolved the Board of Directors (BoD) of the bank on May 6 and appointed two senior IAS officers — State Agriculture and Marketing Secretary S.K. Goyal and Planning Secretary Sudhir Shrivastav — as administrators.
“The administrators should not let any political interference affect them. They should not fall prey to any kind of bias,” Mr. Pawar said. Since the decision of the RBI to supersede the BoD was announced, an all-out war has broken out between the parties of the ruling alliance in the State. Mr. Pawar had earlier said that the Congress' decision was designed to malign the NCP, as the bank was controlled mostly by NCP leaders.
“The appointed members should conduct a transparent inquiry and bring out the facts in public,” he said. Mr. Pawar was visiting the Pune District Cooperative Bank for a monthly meeting.
