Agents of death: female foeticide in Maharashtra

Female foeticide is widely prevalent in many parts of the country. But how does a crime as grave as sex determination and aborting a foetus go unnoticed? Early this month, the Police found 19 aborted female foetuses near a clinic in the village of Mhaisal on the Maharashtra-Karnataka border early this month. Investigations and reports from the ground reveal they way in which such inter-State abortion rackets operate and the manner in which people involved use simple codes to hide their crimes.
