Three engineers were suspended by the Uttar Pradesh government after Chief Minister Adityanath’s chopper was forced to land in a farmland in Kasganj on Tuesday instead of the helipad set up by the local administration.

District officials told The Hindu that the pilot refused to land on the helipad, claiming that the trees around the site posed a threat.

Security breach

Seeing it as a major breach in the Chief Minister’s security, the government suspended an Executive Engineer, a Junior Engineer and an Assistant Engineer with immediate effect.

Mr. Adityanath was visiting Kasganj to meet the victims of the storm and the robbery in Kasganj which took place last week.

After landing, Mr. Adityanath walked 200 meters to the houses of those who were killed in the storm. He stayed for about 20 minutes.

Senior officials said they were informed about the CM’s visit only on Sunday night, which gave them little time to prepare the helipad. The local administration set up the helipad at Kasturba school in Farauli village.
