Bangladeshi Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will give “an exquisite Jamdani sari” to Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
“It will be given to Mr. Modi for his mother,” said a senior Bangladeshi diplomat.
A Dhakai Jamdani is one of the most expensive gifts in Bangladesh, often given to an honoured guest.
“The colour of the hand-woven sari, selected by Ms. Hasina, would be off-white and it is made in Dhaka,” the official said. The cost of a Dhakai Jamdani can run into several lakhs of rupees.
