The Congress lashed out at Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his reference only to Raksha Bandhan and not Eid-ul-Fitr in his radio address, “Mann ki Baat”, on Sunday.
Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad said it was part of his “continuing attempt to create communal polarisation”.
The Prime Minister tweeted Ramzan greetings on June 18, the first day of the holy month, but did not mention it in his address.
Mr. Azad, who is the Leader of the Opposition in the Rajya Sabha, said: “There are over 15 crore Muslims in India. It would have been heartening if he had spoken about Eid. Ours is a composite culture, he could have talked about festivals of all religions.”
