The Central Vigilance Commission (CVC) is likely to close probe in five more cases of alleged irregularities in CWG-related projects carried out by various government agencies in the national capital.
The probity watchdog is looking into a total of 41 cases of alleged corruption, including 13 which are also being probed by CBI.
“The Commission is examining the matter related to the Games projects. We have received reports from some of the departments explaining queries raised by the Commission. There are some cases where no evidence of wrong doings have been found. The Commission may close them,” a source in the CVC said.
The source said there may be about five cases in which the Commission may file a closure report.
Replying to an RTI query filed by PTI, the CVC has said that 12 cases of alleged graft in CWG projects have been closed following due investigation.
Closure reports were filed in cases including those related to procurement of about Rs 100 crore secure communication network ‘Tetra’ and contract for upgrading houses constructed in Vasant Kunj.
The inquiry in procurement of Tetra ‘secure communication network for Commonwealth Games 2010’ (on the complaint from Dr Harsh Vardhan) was carried out. “The Commission has closed the matter,” the CVC has said.
The complaint related to alleged irregularities in construction of roads, sewer, etc causing of loss of Rs 50 crore was also closed, it said.
The projects, investigated by CVC among other probe agencies, were related to the conduct of the mega sporting extravaganza held here between October 3-14, 2010.
Besides, the anti-corruption watchdog is likely to expedite the probe in other pending matters.
“As per our complaint handling policy, all cases were sent to the concerned departments through their Chief Vigilance Officers. We have not received investigation report from some of the departments. The Commission will ask them to speed up the process,” the source said.
The source said the Commission is also likely to come up with a report on its probe into CWG related projects.
