The United States on Thursday welcomed the Foreign Minister-level talks between India and Pakistan, saying this kind of dialogue will enable the two neighbours sort out issues of differences between them.

“It is expressly the kind of dialogue that we think will help to address and resolve issues of interest between the two countries, and of consequence in the region as a whole,” State Department spokesman P. J. Crowley told reporters at his daily press briefing.

The spokesman said the U.S. welcomes the increase in the level of dialogue between the two countries

The U.S. has maintained that it is for India and Pakistan to decide on the pace and scope of the peace talks, but has said it encourages both the countries to resolve all their differences through dialogue.
