Two militants gunned down

Two militants of the Garo National Liberation Army (GNLA) were gunned down, and arms and explosives seized during an encounter in Meghalaya's East Garo Hills district, the police said on Monday.

Seven cadres of the group were moving towards Amren when they were challenged by a joint team of the Army and police near Resubelpara on Saturday midnight.

A gun battle ensured. While two GNLA men were killed, others managed to escape.
