The polling per cent in the district has been slightly revised and finalised at 77.6 per cent. Out of the total electorate of 22.04 lakh in the district, 17.11 lakh exercised their franchise.
According to figures available on the web site of the Chief Electoral Officer, five out of the 14 Assembly constituencies in the district have polled in excess of 80 per cent in the final count.
In Paravur
Paravur with 84 per cent led the list followed by Kunnathunadu with 83.4 per cent. This was a jump from the 75.01 per cent and 78.26 per cent respectively recorded in the last Assembly election in 2006.
Perumbavoor and Angamaly constituencies reported voter turnout of 81.1 per cent and 80.7 per cent respectively as against 78.82 per cent and 74.29 per cent in the last election. The biggest increase was in Aluva constituency, where the voter turnout increased from a mere 69.81 per cent in 2006 to 80.3 per cent this time. The lowest voter turnout was in the newly-formed Kochi constituency, where only 66.9 per cent voters cast their votes.
In the last Assembly elections in 2006, the now inexistent Mattancherry and Palluruthy constituencies, many parts of which are now part of the Kochi constituency, had registered 64.79 per cent and 70.76 per cent voter turnout, respectively.
Voter turnout in Ernakulam constituency has jumped to 71.6 per cent from 61.21 per cent in the last election.
In Thrikkakara
In newly-formed Thrikkakara constituency, carved out of the Tripunithura constituency, 73.6 per cent turned up the polling booths.
In Kothamangalam, the voter turnout has increased to 74.1 per cent from 68.98 per cent and in Muvattupuzha from 66.67 per cent to 74.9 per cent.
Despite losing some of its areas to the Thrikkakara constituency, Tripunithura logged an increased voter turnout of 76.3 per cent from the previous 69.28 per cent. Piravom constituency witnessed a marginal increase in voting from 74.8 per cent to 79.1 per cent.
In Vypeen
In the newly-formed Vypeen constituency, 79.3 per cent cast their votes. In comparison, the Njarakkal constituency, which Vypeen has replaced now, recorded a voter turnout of 71.23 per cent in the last election.
Kalamassery, another newly-formed constituency, recorded a voter turnout of 79.5 per cent.
