Train derails in Bihar, no casualties

Rail traffic was disrupted when a parcel van of Howrah-New Delhi Janata Express derailed near Bhalua station in Jhajha-Kiul section of East Central Railway, officials said here today.

The New Delhi-bound train, coming from Howrah, was about to pass Bhalua station between Jamui and Bananpur stations in the section, when it hit a buffalo, they said.

The parcel van, fourth from the engine, got derailed due to the impact, Chief Public Relations Officer (CRPO) of ECR Dilip Kumar told PTI.

Though no casualty was reported, a medical van with doctors was sent from Kiul, Kumar said, adding cranes have been deployed to clear the track.

Several trains were running behind schedule because of the derailment. Down line was used to ensure proper movement of trains.
