Police fired at least 20 rounds of tear gas shells to disperse a stone-pelting mob near a flyover adjacent to Osmania University campus here on Saturday evening.

The fresh round of violence erupted in Tarnaka area after city police successfully foiled the attempt of the students to lay a siege to Andhra Pradesh Assembly in support their demand for a separate Telangana state.

Students indulged in heavy stone-pelting at police raising slogans “police go back“.

The police burst tear gas shells to quell the near Tarnaka flyover while going out from the university campus.
