Despite failing to win a single seat in the recently held Assembly by-polls in Uttar Pradesh, Samajwadi Party on Tuesday said that it would contest the all the 11 remaining Assembly constituencies strongly.
Speaking to reporters here, State unit president of SP, Akhilesh Yadav said, “The verdict came in favour of ruling BSP because of the misuse of official machinery, as well as the direct interference of State ministers and MLAs. SP would not get influenced by it and contest the coming by elections in a forceful manner.”
It was not the BSP, which was contesting but the government, which was in fray for the ruling party, Mr. Yadav said citing cases, where action was initiated by authorities not against those, who had rigged the polls but against innocent people.
The SP State unit in charge also announced party candidates for eight Assembly seats, where elections would be held later.
The party has decided to field Surjan Lal from Puwayan, Mani Bahadur Singh from Isauli, Shakir Ali from Padrauna, Baba Dubey from Rari, Chandra Bhushan Bundela from Lalitpur, Babulal Yadav from Mughal Sarai, Nandlal Patel from Kolasala and Algu Chauhan from Haiser Bazar.
