Railways condoles Digvijay Singh's death

The Ministry of Railways condoled the death of the former Minister of State for Railways, Digvijay Singh, at a meeting at the Rail Bhawan here on Thursday.

Paying tributes to Mr. Singh, Railway Minister Mamata Banerjee described him as a dynamic politician, who served people with dedication and commitment. She also underlined Mr. Singh's contribution to sports as the President of the National Rifle Association of India.

Ms. Banerjee said Mr. Singh was her close associate, who worked tirelessly for the welfare of the downtrodden and weaker sections of society.

Minister of State for Railways E.Ahamed said the country had lost an energetic parliamentarian and a man committed to the cause of communal harmony and social justice.

Minister of State for Railways, K.H. Muniyappa said Mr. Singh was a multi-faceted personality, who actively worked for the welfare of the poor and the disadvantaged.
