Tension prevailed in Mallannasagar villages with oustess getting ready to hold rasta roko on Rajiv Rahadari and police firing into air to despise the mob on Sunday. It was reported that hundreds of villages ran away among the fields to escape from police.

The Mallannasagar issue is, slowly but surely, going out of control if the incidents taking place in those villages were any indication.

The land oustees of Vemulaghat of Toguta mandal were lathicharged on Sunday when they started for a dharna on Rajiv Rahadari. About 20 persons were arrested and later released by police while about 25 persons including women were arrested by the police. Tension prevailed for few hours and then the situation came to normal. Some women from Etigaddaksihtapur, which was reportedly surrendered to the government to hand over lands under GO 123, threatened to immolate self if police did not allow them to hold rasta roko in Rajiv Rahadari.

According to sources, some of the middlemen lured neighbouring Turkapally villagers to register their sada binami lands to the government under GO 123 and this incident took place late Saturday night. The villagers of Vemulaghat planned to conduct 50-days of their agitation. When gathered, the villagers came to know that sadabinami registrations are taking place in the neighbouring villages they have decided to hold rasta roko on Rajiv Rahadari.

Knowing this police, stopped them at Pallepahad chowrata and resorted to lathicharge. About 20 persons including women were injured. About 20 persons were arrested and they were taken to Mirdoddi police station.

Irate over the incident, another batch of women started from other villages and it was informed that police fired into air at Erravalli to prevent the mob from further proceeding towards highway.

TTDP leader O. Pratap Reddy was seriously injured in the incident.
