Pakistani forces fired four rockets in villages around the Attari border, drawing retaliation from the BSF.
BSF official said while two rockets landed in an agricultural field in the border villages around Attari border last night, the other two failed to explode.
No casualty has been reported. According to sources, BSF troops present during night duty opened retaliatory fire.
Officials said that dense fog made it difficult for BSF personnel to locate where the two rockets fell and exploded in agriculture fields.
He said two rockets which did not blast after falling on Indian Territory were traced at Kahangarh post of BSF.
Immediately after the incident, BSF held a flag meeting with Pakistani counterparts who denied any firing from their side.
The Pakistan Rangers alleged that BSF had resorted to “unprovoked” firing.
“The BSF fired at least four shells into our territory in the Wagah sector at 11.30 pm last night and resorted to firing that lasted for more than three hours,” Rangers spokesman Nadeem Raza said.
“Following the incident, the wing commanders of Pakistan Rangers and BSF held a flag meeting at 3 am this morning,” he said.
